Owen Moore (b. 1985) is a contemporary code artist based in Vancouver, BC, Canada, specializing in generative systems. Moore is known for incorporating interactivity, soundscapes, and motion into his works, as well as for his unique rendering methods. Actively involved in the generative art movement, he embraces the use of blockchain technology as a core part of his practice for the release and archival of his code-based artworks. Moore's work has been featured on Art Blocks in their curated collection and exhibited in Marfa, TX, Los Angeles, CA, and Vancouver, BC.

Artist Statement
I work with code. I program generative systems that direct machines to explore branching flows of logic and parameters randomly, producing potential outputs that I refine until they become my artwork. My code selects random values from predefined ranges and sets of options that are then applied to rendering pipelines of my own design to achieve aesthetic variety. The artwork I release is ultimately produced from the software I develop in my practice. I am a generative artist.I have always been a keen observer of patterns, details, and behaviours in the world around me. My mind operates with a sense of structure, and I find joy in distilling subjects into their root components to uncover interconnections between them. While thinking creatively, I am not one to visualize the outcomes literally before they are made, rather I think in abstract mechanics. I work with code because it provides me with a means of breaking down my creative ideas into discrete elements. By introducing randomization, I iteratively explore different permutations of an idea, using it as a means to refine it into an aesthetic I value. My artistic process is grounded in the collaboration with machines. Each work within a collection represents a unique realization from an infinite number of possibilities. The code I develop for a collection remains unchanged between works; only a small bit of text uniquely identifies and executes it. By writing code in this manner, I create latent design spaces that are experienced through snapshots of visuals, motion, sound, and interactivity. My practice is focused on the pursuit of a deeper understanding of the generative process and ways to bring it to life. Thank you for taking the time to read this, I appreciate your interest and support.
