Biography
Owen Moore (b. 1985), aka OWMO, is an independent artist and creative technologist based in Vancouver, Canada. He specializes in using randomization as an integral part of his creative process. His algorithmic artwork is known for its unique graphics rendering techniques and for incorporating interactivity, soundscapes, and motion. His body of work includes algorithmic fine art, digital mixed media, interactive experiences, music productions, and physical installations. Moore collaborates with machines to explore creative ideas, producing work that fits his vision yet retains an inherently unpredictable quality. His work is featured in the Art Blocks curated collection and has exhibited in Marfa, TX; Los Angeles, CA; and Vancouver, BC. At the heart of his practice is a passion for the intersection of technology and creativity.

Artist Statement
I work with code and machines. I program stochastic algorithms that randomly choose branching paths of logic to generate unique, one-of-a-kind outputs. My practice centers on randomization as a core element of the creative process, where I work collaboratively with the systems I design. Using an iterative process, I explore the conceptual structures, rendering techniques, or sonic qualities of my work until an aesthetic emerges that resonates with me. The works I release are captured moments within this process — a final codebase or technical configuration forms the foundation from which I may curate collections, offer raw outputs on-demand, or present as ever-evolving systems.I’ve always been a keen observer of patterns, details, and behaviours. My mind is drawn to structure, and I find joy in distilling subjects into their root components while observing the relationships between them. When creating, I do not visualize literal outcomes; instead, I imagine abstract ideas and the influences each have on the whole. I work with code and machines because it allows me to break thoughts into discrete, actionable elements that, when mixed with randomization, enable me to explore the latent domain spaces I’ve constructed. My goal is to uncover aesthetics that best represent the underlying ideas through rendering techniques, sonic qualities, or other forms of presentation. Each work represents a reproducible execution of code or machine configuration from a near-infinite set of possibilities.

This table explains the "type" codes and demonstrates how I mark physical works to identify them.

SSignature Variable Edition ( 1/x )1/x V.E.
Everything I create is a one-of-a-kind artwork, whether it's from a Signature Collection where I have carefully curated outputs or is an open editioned print. The "Originals" and "Editions" terms don't fit my practice perfectly, so I have adopted the terminology of Variable Editions, segmented by intent.
